The iPad/iPhone you are reading this on is made in China. Cheaper labor? Not to mention higher quality than American product lines (Ford/Chevy/Chrysler anyone?). AND to keep up with demand, laborers work 12 hour shifts. A huge no-no from unions who believe that American workers should work 4 hours then have a break where they are fed grapes on a pillow while a string quartet plays Vivaldi in the corner.
A moment of silence, please, for a land lost long ago.
And for the love of Al Gore, if I see 1 more person confuse the totally normal and often successful personality type of introversion with the word shy which is a fear of social rejection, I am going to blog about it on the internet in carefully worded, intelligent sentences that no one is going to read!. If you own a car in the US you are probably thrilled IF it gets 30+MPG fuel efficiency. VW-UK sells a Passat that gets a commonplace 74MPG (follow link). The emissions of these vehicles are slightly higher per gallon than the comparable US model, however, with more than double the fuel efficiency that means much less emissions overall.
Remember when our government and our media kept reminding us when gas climbed above $3 that gas in Europe was $5-$6? They failed to mention Euro-vehicles are more than twice as efficient as vehicles legal in America. First person account at this Youtube vid.
